David Beckham gave his son and daughter-in-law an incredibly generous wedding gift – but he had one big regret.

Last month, billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz was welcomed into the family after marrying her eldest son Brooklyn Beckham.

A slew of famous faces from across the UK and across the pond watched the young couple wed in an extravagant ceremony at her family’s £76million beach house in Florida.

Brooklyn dad and mum Victoria were incredibly proud to see their son marry the love of his life in a party that reportedly cost £3million to set up.

It won’t come as much of a surprise, then, to learn that the newlyweds received some pretty expensive gifts, despite generously asking their guests to donate to help those affected by the crisis in Ukraine instead of buying presses.

That request was ignored by David, who turns 47 today, as he gifted the happy couple an electric 1954 Jaguar.

The baby blue XK140, which was converted to electric by restoration and electrification company Lunaz, was driven to the ceremony by David.

The car was the result of a team of 120 craftsmen, designers and technicians and was built entirely in-house at Silverstone.

David Lorenz, Founder and CEO of Lunaz, said: “In creating this beautiful, electrified Jaguar XK140, we are honored to bridge the gap between David Beckham’s professional life, where he is an investor in Lunaz, and his family life.

“This remarkable car is the perfect gift for son Brooklyn and daughter-in-law, Nicola, on their wedding day. In every way, this extraordinary classic electric car from Lunaz symbolizes a bright and positive future.”

The former England captain and his wife Victoria drove to Nicola’s parents’ Palm Beach home in the vehicle and surprised Brooklyn and his wife by handing them the keys.

Shortly after tying the knot, the newlyweds pulled out their new motor to drive around the block.

It brought back memories of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle setting off from their wedding reception in an electrified Jaguar.

However, it looks like David started to regret his decision as he jokingly revealed he wished he had kept the car.

While posting a birthday message to his wife Victoria, David shared a photo of himself driving the Jaguar and Posh Spice was sitting in the passenger seat.

“I should have kept this car it’s so good,” he jokingly wrote, followed by a laughing emoji. He added, “@lunazdesign, please make me one. Happy birthday mum, @victoriabeckham.”

David wasn’t the only one who shelled out a gift, as his mother Sandra couldn’t resist giving Nicola a present.

The Brooklyn grandma asked artist Adam Claridge to personalize a pair of Nike Air Force 1 sneakers for the bride – and personalized them with sentimental designs and messages to Nicola.

The word ‘Bunny’ is seen on the shoes, which is the nickname given to Nicola’s grandmother who acted as her bridesmaid that day, along with butterflies, roses and a replica of Nicola’s tattoo. Brooklyn cherub.

Nicola and Brooklyn had eschewed a traditional wedding gift list and instead asked their guests to donate to Ukraine.

In a touching Instagram post after the three-day extravaganza, Nicola wrote: “My dad spoke about it at his wedding at our wedding. Brooklyn and I are devastated by what is happening in Ukraine and have asked for donations to CareOrg instead of wedding gifts.

“Everything helps,” she added.

Becks had no official role at the wedding but was responsible for ensuring that all of Beckham’s men looked their best.

Weeks before the big day, he went costume shopping with his dad Ted and stepdad Tony Adams, captioning a snap of the trio: “Making special memories, wedding plans underway and dads all in suit and boots.”

He was also rumored to adopt a position as emcee and deliver a short speech to the assembled guests.

David reportedly “shed a tear” watching his son walk down the aisle and later got emotional while talking about “Buster” and his new daughter-in-law.

A source said The sun “David’s speech was about five minutes long and he seemed to shed a tear at one point. He was talking about when Brooklyn was born and how he wanted to protect him.

“He said he was sleeping on the hospital floor, holding the door closed because he didn’t want to let anyone in. David got a lump in his throat and had to stop and take a break to find his calm, but it was a very soft speech.”

David paid tribute to his eldest son as well as Romeo and Cruz when he shared a photo of himself with his boys via Instagram.

Alngoside the image, he wrote: “My beautiful boys and a very proud dad. Congratulations Bust on a lifetime of happiness we will always be by your side @brooklynbeckham @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham we love you @victoriabeckham.”
