CHICAGO (October 6, 2021) – As the United States Men’s National Team resumes its quest for World Cup qualification this week, US Soccer will host a number of fan experiences in Austin, TX, around the United States-Jamaica, the first USMNT World Cup qualifier to be played in Texas. The United States begin their second of seven World Cup home qualifiers on Thursday, October 7 at Stadium Q2 (7:30 p.m. ET; ESPN2, Univision, UniMas).

INSIDERS PREGAME HUDDLE WITH GREGG BERHALTER – OCT. 6


The US Soccer Insiders can get closer than ever to the National Team with exclusive access, behind-the-scenes content and special ticket offers. Ahead of USA-Jamaica on Thursday night, Premium level insiders and above will have the opportunity to chat with Head Coach Gregg Berhalter and ask questions about World Cup qualifiers.

The “Only Forward” art series continues in Austin with works by local artist FeeBee. FAN HQ – OCT. 7


Before the USMNT takes the pitch on Thursday night, the fan HQ will start the party at Calle Norte and HEB Plaza outside the Q2 Stadium. The pre-game event will feature games, music from DJ Flipside, freebies and more. Fans can gear up with US Soccer merchandise at Visa Fan Studio.


BIOSTEEL AND GOGO SQUEEZ COMPETITION


All fans in the United States-Jamaica will have the chance to try free samples of BioSteel drinks at the fan seat and GoGo squeeZ snack bags upon leaving the stadium.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS, PRESENTED BY ALLSTATE


GAME AMBASSADOR –
VIRGINIA CUCUMBER


US Soccer will recognize Austin-based storyteller, racial justice educator and organizer Virginia Cumberbatch as the One Nation Ambassador in Austin. The game ambassadors are selected for their impact in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Cumberbatch currently works as a consultant, helping organizations explore their role in diversity, equity and inclusion, and co-founded Rosa Rebellion in 2018 as a platform for creative activism by and for women of color. His work in community advocacy and creative activism seeks to raise the voices of people of color.


COMMUNITY COACH – OCT. 8 AND 9


US Soccer will partner with the South Texas Soccer Association, Austin FC and 4ATX, the community engagement arm of Austin FC, to organize a
Coach for the community Event. A 90 minute Zoom class session will take place on October 8, followed by a field session at St. David’s Performance Center on October 9.

In the United States, many youth coaches do not have access to proper training. US Soccer introduced the Coach for Community program to serve not only as an introduction to teaching the game, but also to enhance sports experiences within communities, especially underserved areas that may lack access and training. for coaches, players and volunteers.

Coach for Community participants will learn how to create a positive, fun, and player-centered environment using US Soccer’s Play-Practice-Play methodology. US Soccer, STYSA and Austin FC welcome people (coaches, volunteers, parents, etc.) of all skill levels who want to coach children and help make football for young people a better experience to register here.

Each person who attends the Coach for Community clinic will also receive a $ 25 voucher to access one of US Soccer’s grassroots football license courses for free.


VW FIELD


The World Cup qualifiers in Austin will see the return of
CHAMPION – a tailor-made Volkswagen telepresence robot that will allow young football fans in difficulty to participate virtually in the pre-match ceremonies.

Eleven-year-old American football fan Wes Archibald will use CHAMP to join the USMNT on the field for the national anthem. Originally from San Francisco, Wes suffers from congenital heart defects but has been playing football, his favorite sport, since he was little. His coaches are always amazed by his persistence and determination, as Wes never gives up on or off the field despite his medical issues.


SENSORY NEEDS


US Soccer is in partnership with
CultureCity to make the sensory inclusive gameday experience. KultureCity is a leading nonprofit nationally recognized for using its resources to revolutionize and effect change in the community for people with sensory needs, not just people with autism. “In an effort to improve their gaming experience, fans with sensory needs will be able to view sensory bags for free during the game. “


VOTE.ORG


US Soccer has also partnered with
Vote.org to boost voter registration for important national and local elections, with a focus on the initiative with in-game video board graphics and stadium announcements.


YOUTH COMMUNITY PROGRAM – OCT. 5


In conjunction with Breakthrough Central Texas, US Soccer on Tuesday presented the One Nation Community Youth Program, a virtual sports industry career panel designed to inspire local young adults to dream big and achieve their goals. The program showed high school students that they can accomplish great things, no matter their background, in an effort to broaden their career horizons and gain professional skills. The careers panel featured a diverse roster of sports industry professionals working in Austin in various off-court functions.
