THE POST IS SEEKING MEMBERS: The Middlefield VFW Post 9678 will have its next meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at 16013 E. High St., Middlefield. Annual VFW membership is $29.95, but the post will pay the first year for new members. A social membership for non-veterans is $10 per year. AFTERNOON TEA: The National McKinley Birthplace Museum in Niles will host afternoon tea from noon to 2:30 p.m. on May 15. The event will include a small makers market with tea and body care products, crochet items, earrings, journals and bookmarks. To reserve a spot before May 3, RSVP to Belinda at 330-652-4273. Reservations are $30 per person.

TCTC HOSTS COMMUNITY DAY: The Trumbull Career and Technical Center in Champion will host a community day from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. The event will showcase TCTC’s programs and services and include local businesses and organizations. There will be animations and demonstrations. Food trucks and concessions will be available.

BLOOMFIELD HISTORY: The Historic House of Bloomfield will present the program “The other half” at 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. April 24 at Center Brook Manor, 8745 State Route 45, North Bloomfield. The program includes a discussion of the two servant girls who lived in Center Brook when Charles and Julia Brown were there in the 1850s and 1860s. The historic Charles Brown Home near State Route 45 is where slaves are hidden on the Underground Railroad.

LIFESAVING TRAINING: The Youngstown Jewish Community Center will be hosting lifeguard training for ages 15 and up with training from 5-7 p.m. April 29 and 9-5 a.m. April 30-May 1. The class provides participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies until EMS personnel arrive. Participants who successfully complete the course receive a certificate from the American Red Cross. For more information call 330-746-3251

HUBBARD PLAY: Students from Hubbard High School will present “Once upon a time there was a mattress: the musical story of the princess and the pea” 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on April 24 at the school auditorium. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students.

RISING UP: Trumbull County Children’s Services will host the 22nd Annual Rising Up and Moving On Community Luncheon at noon Tuesday at Cminero’s Banquet Center in Niles. The event will honor the accomplishments of families and the dedication of community members. The theme for 2022 is “Planting seeds of hope.” The emcee is Nadine Grimley from WKBN.
